You need to communicate in Mandarin Chinese for a real purpose of your choice — like sharing your interests, talking about an event, or describing an experience. Your communication should cover information, ideas, and opinions, and touch on things happening now, in the past, or in the future. The key is that listeners or readers can understand what you're trying to say, even if you make some small mistakes along the way.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Choose a real purpose and audience for your Chinese communication (for example: tell your friend about your holiday, promote a school event, explain your hobby to a parent)
- ·Express information, ideas, and opinions that are relevant to your chosen topic
- ·Include language that talks about present situations, past events, and/or future plans
- ·Use a variety of vocabulary and sentence types to show you can do more than just basic phrases
- ·Make your message clear and logical so people can follow what you're saying, despite small mistakes
You communicate your message clearly enough that the audience understands your main points, using some vocabulary and structures, even though there are some inconsistencies that don't seriously disrupt understanding.
