This standard asks you to show you can understand Indonesian texts (written or visual) about everyday topics that you'd realistically encounter. You need to prove you can work out what these texts mean and explain that understanding in English, Te Reo Māori, or Indonesian—demonstrating that you've genuinely grasped the information, ideas, and opinions being communicated.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Identify and extract key information, ideas, and opinions from Indonesian texts on familiar everyday matters
- ·Explain what the text means in your chosen language (English, Te Reo Māori, or Indonesian)
- ·Pick out relevant details from the text and communicate them clearly without confusion
- ·Show you understand what the text is suggesting or implying, not just what it literally says
- ·Create visual representations (like maps, diagrams, or sketches) or rephrase information to show your understanding
You correctly identify and explain the main ideas and information from the Indonesian text(s), showing you understand what is being communicated.
You select the relevant information, ideas, and opinions from the text and explain them clearly and unambiguously, showing more careful and precise understanding.
