Spatial analysis
Apply spatial analysis, with consultation, to solve a geographic problem

You need to solve a real geographic problem by using spatial data (like maps and information with location information) and data analysis techniques. You'll collect or find spatial data, manipulate it (measure, layer, filter, sort it), and then use these findings to propose and justify a solution. You'll work with your teacher to decide which geospatial techniques to use.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Collect or access real spatial data relevant to your geographic problem (from fieldwork, maps, GIS databases, or other sources)
- ·Manipulate the spatial data using appropriate techniques such as measuring, layering, querying, symbolising, sorting, or graphing to help answer your problem
- ·Explain what you did with the data and why those manipulations help solve the problem
- ·Present your findings visually (maps, tables, graphs, images) that clearly show your analysis
- ·Propose and justify a solution by arguing why your chosen course of action is better than the alternatives
You apply spatial analysis to solve a problem: collect relevant spatial data, manipulate it, explain what you did, and propose a solution.
