You need to pick a real accounting issue that matters to a business or organisation today, and explain how it affects the decisions that business makes. You'll describe the issue using both financial numbers and other relevant information, then show how and why it changes what the business decides to do.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Choose a real, current accounting issue (like sustainability costs, cloud computing, interest rates, ethical concerns, or stakeholder interests) affecting an actual business or case study
- ·Describe the issue clearly, including both financial data (numbers, costs, profits) and non-financial information (environmental impact, employee welfare, customer trust, etc.)
- ·Explain how this issue affects the business's actual decisions and strategy
- ·Draw a conclusion that ties the issue back to why it matters for decision-making
- ·Use evidence and reasoning—don't just state facts, show the connection between the issue and the decisions
You describe the issue and its financial/non-financial impacts, then explain how it affects the business's decisions and conclude why it matters.
You go deeper by explaining not just what the issue is, but how and why it influences decision-making, and your conclusion emphasises the importance of the issue to the business.
