This standard asks you to carry out several different types of scientific investigations to explore a topic, describe why each investigation method works for your question, and explain how they all fit together to build a complete understanding. You'll use at least three different investigative approaches—like observing patterns, doing fair tests, classifying things, building models, or exploring and observing—and back up everything you say with actual evidence from your data.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Carry out at least three different scientific investigative approaches (such as fair testing, pattern seeking, observing, classifying, or modelling), each designed to answer a specific question
- ·Describe what each investigative approach was for and back it up with the evidence you collected
- ·Explain why each approach was or wasn't suitable for answering your question, using evidence to support your reasoning
- ·Show how all the different approaches work together to give you a fuller, more complete understanding of the topic
