Describe a social action undertaken to support or challenge a system

This standard is about students actually doing a social action — something real they plan and carry out themselves — that either supports or pushes back against a system (like a local government system, a school system, or an environmental system). After doing the action, students write a report describing what they did, why they did it, and what difference it made. It is assessed internally by your school, meaning there is no external exam for this one.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Choose a real social issue that connects to a system (for example, plastic pollution connecting to a local government system).
- ·Plan and carry out a genuine social action — something like organising a petition, presenting to your local council, running a campaign, or leading a community event.
- ·Collect evidence as you go — photos, emails, social media posts, journal entries, or media releases.
- ·Write a report describing your action, why you did it, how it challenged or supported the system, and what impact it had.
- ·For higher grades, go further by explaining the impacts of your action and then judging how well-suited your action was to actually making a difference.
