This standard asks you to use right-angled triangles to solve real-world measurement problems. You'll need to know and apply at least three different methods: Pythagoras' theorem, trigonometric ratios (sine, cosine, tangent), similar shapes, and precise measurement techniques. You'll demonstrate this by selecting the right method for each problem and showing your working clearly.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Select and use at least three different methods to solve measurement problems involving right-angled triangles
- ·Apply Pythagoras' theorem and trigonometric ratios (sine, cosine, tangent) correctly to find unknown sides or angles
- ·Use the properties of similar shapes to solve problems when needed
- ·Demonstrate knowledge of measurement terms and geometric concepts accurately
- ·Communicate your solutions clearly, showing the steps you took
You apply right-angled triangle methods to solve measurement problems, using at least three different methods and showing your working clearly.
You apply right-angled triangles by connecting different concepts together logically, showing you understand when and why to use each method in sequence, and relating your answer back to the real-world context.
