This standard asks you to investigate a real research question by collecting data, presenting it clearly using graphs or charts, and explaining what patterns or features you've found. You'll work through the full statistical enquiry process—from deciding what data you need, to presenting it visually, to writing about what it tells you in the context of your question.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Explain clearly where your data came from and why it's suitable for answering your research question
- ·Collect or source enough data with a good range of values to actually analyse (surveys, experiments, or existing datasets)
- ·Present your data using at least one appropriate graph, chart, or visualisation
- ·Describe the key features and patterns you notice in your data, connecting what you see back to your original question
- ·Follow a logical statistical enquiry process throughout your investigation, showing how each step connects to the next
