This standard asks you to understand how human factors affect design decisions. You need to identify what makes products, systems, or environments work well for the people who use them—including things like comfort (ergonomics), how they look (aesthetics), and what people prefer. You'll describe the techniques designers use to gather information about what users actually need.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Describe the human factors (ergonomic and aesthetic) that designers must consider when creating a product, system, or environment
- ·Explain how personal preferences, group preferences, style, and trends influence design decisions
- ·Describe data gathering and analysis techniques (like anthropometric, psychological, and sensory methods) that designers use to understand user needs
- ·Connect specific human factors to real design examples to show you understand why they matter
You describe the main human factors designers consider and name some data-gathering techniques, with basic explanations of how preferences and trends affect design.
You explain in detail how human factors work and how different data-gathering techniques are actually used in real design projects, showing deeper understanding of the connection between user needs and design choices.
