This standard asks you to show you understand how electronic components and circuits work in real-world applications. You'll need to describe how parts like resistors, LEDs, and transistors actually function, and explain how circuits behave when you change things in them. You're learning the foundations of electronics so you can design and build simple electronic systems.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Describe the function of key electronic components (like resistors, LEDs, transistors, switches, cells, and microcontrollers) in practical circuits
- ·Explain at least five basic electronics concepts—such as how a circuit is a complete path, what voltage and current do, or how semiconductors conduct electricity
- ·Explain how electronic circuits behave and respond when conditions change (like voltage levels or component values)
- ·Show your understanding using practical examples from circuits you've built or analysed
- ·Discuss how changing component values or swapping components in a circuit affects how the whole system works
You describe how basic electronic components work and identify at least five core electronics concepts in simple, straightforward terms.
