Interpret scripted text to integrate drama techniques in performance

You'll perform a scene from a published play, making deliberate choices about how your character speaks, moves, and uses the stage to show what the script means. You need to write down why you made these choices and annotate your script to show your thinking. The goal is to blend voice, body, movement, and space techniques together so your performance tells a convincing, layered story that connects to the whole play.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Select a scene from a published play (not one you write yourself) and develop a clear interpretation of your character based on their actions and attitudes throughout the whole play
- ·Make deliberate performance choices using voice (pitch, pace, tone, etc.), body language (gesture, facial expression, stance, eye contact), movement (energy, timing, direction), and use of space (levels, proxemics, awareness of the audience)
- ·Write a statement of intention that explains the role, time, place, situation, and action with reference to the entire play
- ·Annotate your script to show your subtext, motivation, and intention for key moments
- ·Blend all four technique areas seamlessly together in your actual performance so they work as one coherent interpretation
