This standard asks you to have a real conversation in German where you actively participate, think on your feet, and can explain why you believe what you're saying. You'll be assessed on how clearly you communicate and how well you can defend different viewpoints across a range of situations—from casual chats to more formal discussions.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Actively participate in German conversations with some fluency and without needing to rehearse everything in advance
- ·Clearly explain and support your own ideas and perspectives when discussing topics
- ·Explore and challenge the ideas and perspectives of others by asking questions and responding thoughtfully
- ·Use language that fits the situation and audience (formal versus informal, social versus cultural)
- ·Use interactive strategies like asking for clarification, agreeing and disagreeing, using fillers, and keeping the conversation going
You participate clearly in German conversations, explain your ideas, and engage with others' perspectives across different situations, even if there are some inconsistencies in pronunciation, speed, or language choice.
