This standard tests whether you can communicate in German in a way that makes sense for a real purpose and audience. You'll need to express information, ideas, or opinions in present, past, or future tense while keeping the message clear even if you make some small mistakes. The "chosen purpose" is up to you—it could be sharing interests, preparing for an event, or talking about an experience.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Express information, ideas, and opinions relevant to your chosen context in German
- ·Refer to events or experiences using present, past, and/or future tense
- ·Choose and use a variety of vocabulary and sentence types (simple, compound, and complex sentences)
- ·Link your ideas together so the message flows logically and is easy to follow
- ·Communicate clearly enough to be understood despite small inconsistencies in word choice, grammar, or pronunciation
You communicate your ideas in German clearly enough to be understood, using some variety in vocabulary and sentence types, even if there are occasional errors that don't stop the message getting across.
You communicate skillfully with a good range of vocabulary and varied sentence structures, the message flows logically from one idea to the next, and inconsistencies don't significantly interrupt understanding.
