This standard asks you to show that you understand why a particular historical person, event, or place matters. You need to pick specific things about it that made it important—like how it affected relationships between people, shaped someone's identity, stayed in people's memories, or changed the way things were done—and back up your ideas with real historical details like names, dates, or quotes.
