In this standard, students pick a real-world problem or opportunity connected to digital technology, research it thoroughly, and then write up a detailed proposal for a digital solution. You don't actually build the solution — the whole point is the research and planning process that leads to a well-argued proposal. It's worth 6 credits and is assessed by your teacher throughout the year.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Choose a focus topic and write a clear inquiry question linked to digital technologies (e.g. 'How could an app help elderly people manage their medications?')
- ·Research your topic by gathering information from a range of sources
- ·Organise and analyse what you find — don't just list facts, make sense of them
- ·Propose a specific digital technologies outcome (your recommended solution or product idea) based on your research
- ·Summarise how your findings answer your inquiry question and support your proposal
- ·Meet agreed deadlines and milestones set with your teacher along the way
