This achievement standard tests whether you can listen to spoken Korean conversations and understand what's being said. You'll listen to a variety of texts (like conversations, interviews, or discussions) about everyday topics — things you'd typically encounter in Korean-speaking contexts. You need to show that you actually understand the meaning of what you hear, not just pick out random words.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Identify key details and facts from the spoken passages (what happened, who said what, what the characters think or feel)
- ·Explain the general meaning and main ideas of what you heard
- ·Support your answers with specific examples or evidence from the text
- ·Work out implied meanings — the ideas that aren't said directly but are suggested by what the speakers talk about
- ·Connect different pieces of information together to show you understand the whole picture, not just isolated details
