This standard asks you to have real conversations in spoken Korean where you actively discuss different ideas and defend your viewpoint. You need to be fluent enough to talk naturally without memorizing scripts, and you should be able to explore and explain different perspectives in various real-life situations—from casual chats to formal discussions.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Take an active part in discussions with fluency and the ability to speak naturally without heavy reliance on rehearsed material
- ·Explore and justify varied ideas and perspectives by asking questions, evaluating others' views, and providing evidence or explanations for your own positions
- ·Use language that is clear, purposeful, and appropriate for the cultural context and formality level of the situation (informal vs. formal, social vs. cultural)
- ·Maintain the conversation using interactive strategies such as asking follow-up questions, seeking clarification, agreeing and disagreeing, and using natural speech fillers
- ·Demonstrate cultural awareness by using appropriate courtesies, gestures, and conventions in a way that shows you understand Korean communication norms
You speak clearly in Korean, take part actively in discussions, and can explore and explain different ideas, though your speech may sometimes be hindered by pronunciation, inconsistent stress patterns, or need pauses to find words.
