This standard asks you to create a finished artwork that shows you can control the techniques and methods that are important to a particular cultural tradition or art form. You need to manage your materials and processes skillfully so that the final piece actually works and looks intentional—not accidental or incomplete.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Create a complete, finished artwork (not a draft or experiment) that realises what you were trying to achieve
- ·Choose and use techniques and skills that are appropriate to the cultural tradition or art form you're working in
- ·Show control over your materials, tools, and processes throughout the making
- ·Demonstrate that you understand the customs, practices and 'ways of doing things' that belong to that cultural or ethnic tradition
- ·Manage your work so it looks polished and intentional, not messy or half-finished
You produce a complete artwork that uses appropriate techniques and shows you can manage your materials, even if control isn't always consistent.
You sustain control throughout the making process, handling processes and materials reliably so the work stays true to its cultural tradition from start to finish.
