You need to create one finished artwork that shows a real idea or story, using materials and techniques that fit a recognised art style or tradition. Your work should be substantial, well-finished, and show you understand the conventions (the "rules" and practices) of the art form you've chosen.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Select an established art-making convention or practice (e.g., landscape painting, portraiture, printmaking, sculpture, digital art) and research its key characteristics and techniques
- ·Plan and produce a single substantial artwork that communicates a clear idea, message or narrative using appropriate materials and techniques for that convention
- ·Demonstrate technical control and finishing—your work should be properly completed and polished, not rough or unfinished
- ·Show understanding of the established practices and 'rules' of your chosen art form through how you make and present your work
