You'll actually make a product from start to finish by following detailed processing steps that you've planned out. You'll test it at key points, adjust your process based on those tests, and then document everything—including the costs, safety risks, and quality checks—to prove you can handle complex manufacturing procedures.

What you actually do
- ·Create a flow diagram that maps out all your processing steps, the order they happen in, and where you'll test the product
- ·Carry out the processing operations and tests exactly as planned, making measurements more than once to check they're reliable
- ·Change how you're processing the product when test results tell you to, and explain why those changes matter
- ·Calculate the total financial cost per unit (materials, packaging, energy, labour) and work out your yield—how much finished product you actually got
- ·Write and follow a health and safety plan that identifies hazards and controls risks, plus a quality assurance plan that explains how you'll test and fix problems
