This standard tests whether you can listen to Japanese conversations and understand what's being said about everyday topics like going out, food, routines, and activities. You need to pick out the important information from what you hear and explain what it means, even if you miss some smaller details along the way.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Listen to Japanese audio and identify what people are talking about and why
- ·Pick out key information and specific details from the spoken text to answer questions directly
- ·Connect different ideas from what you hear to explain the full meaning (for example, understanding that someone wants to do something AND why they want to do it)
- ·Explain your understanding using your own words, showing you've understood the context and purpose of what was said
- ·Handle small mistakes or unclear bits without losing the overall meaning of the conversation
You understand the general topic and can identify some key information, but your answers are quite basic with little specific detail from the audio.
You select specific details from what you hear and connect them together to answer questions fully; you understand the structures and vocabulary used, and small errors don't stop you making sense of it.
