This standard asks you to show you understand the basic building blocks of digital media — the different types of media (like video, audio, graphics), the software tools used to create them, and the choices designers make about things like colour and layout. You need to analyse a real digital media project (like a website, video, or poster) and explain how all these elements work together to communicate a message to an audience, while considering ethical issues like copyright and privacy.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Identify and name the different types of digital media in a finished project (audio, video, graphics, animation, still images)
- ·Describe which software applications were used to create or edit the digital media outcome
- ·Explain the techniques and design choices (like colour, contrast, layout, scale) that were applied when making it
- ·Describe what message or purpose the digital media was designed to communicate (advertising, education, entertainment, warning, instruction)
- ·Discuss the ethical concerns that applied to the project, such as copyright, privacy, licensing, and intellectual property rights
You identify the media types, name the software used, describe the design elements and techniques, explain the communication purpose, and mention relevant ethical considerations.
