This standard asks you to show you understand how plants and animals have special features that help them survive and live in their habitat. You need to describe these adaptations, explain what they do, and show why they matter for the organism's survival. This is about connecting biology ideas to real-world survival.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Describe specific adaptations (structural, behavioural, or physiological features) for one or more organisms
- ·Identify which life process each adaptation helps with (like nutrition, gas exchange, reproduction, movement, or sensitivity)
- ·Explain how or why each adaptation helps the organism survive and function in its specific habitat
- ·Link your adaptation examples to the organism's overall way of life and relationships in its environment
