This standard asks you to write two or more pieces (poems, stories, essays, reviews, scripts—your choice) that are polished and ready to share. Your writing needs to have clear ideas that connect to each other, right structure for the type of text you're writing, and correct spelling and grammar. The key is that everything—your ideas, your language choices, and how you structure it—should work together to show you understand your audience and what you're trying to say.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Select at least two different pieces of writing and take them to publication standard (fully edited and polished)
- ·Develop and connect your ideas throughout each piece so readers can follow your thinking
- ·Choose structures and language features that match your text type (essay format for essays, dialogue for scripts, etc.) and keep the effect consistent
- ·Use accurate spelling, punctuation, and grammar with only minor errors
- ·Shape your ideas, language choices, and structure to create an effect that matches your purpose and audience
