You need to perform a piece of music for an audience and show that you can both play your instrument well and handle yourself on stage. The examiner will watch your technical skill (how well you play) and your stage presence (how you look, move, and connect with the audience).

- ·Apply appropriate technical skills on your instrument — play the notes accurately, keep steady time, and control your tone and dynamics
- ·Apply appropriate musicianship skills — shape phrases musically, interpret the piece with understanding, and respond to the music's character and style
- ·Perform your music for an actual audience (whether a class, whānau, friends, or even just your teacher)
- ·For culturally grounded music forms like waiata or haka, demonstrate culturally appropriate body use and expression
