Carry out an investigation in chemistry involving quantitative analysis

You need to design and carry out your own chemistry investigation that measures how much of a substance is in a sample (quantitative analysis), using a technique like titration or colorimetry. You'll collect data, analyse it mathematically, and write a report explaining what you found and why your method worked.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Design a procedure to explore a trend or pattern in the quantity of a substance, and test it in the lab
- ·Collect sufficient, quality data (at least 5 mL titre values or appropriate colorimetry range) and record everything in a logbook
- ·Process your raw data using correct mathematical steps, significant figures and units to reach a valid conclusion
- ·Write a report that includes: your purpose, detailed procedure, summary of data, and conclusion linked back to your purpose
- ·For higher grades: standardise your solutions, control variables, evaluate your data reliability, and explain how your chemistry knowledge and technique choices support your findings
You carry out an investigation with a clear purpose, describe your procedure and analytical technique, collect enough data to reach a conclusion, and write a report showing your processed data and findings.
