You need to pick a current ethical issue in health (like euthanasia, vaccination, organ donation, or access to fertility treatment) and write a thorough analysis showing different viewpoints on the topic. Your job is to explain WHY people disagree about it and what the real-life impacts are on people's wellbeing — both for those directly involved and for society.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Choose a real, current health-related ethical issue where people genuinely disagree (not something already legally settled)
- ·Explain the different perspectives people hold on the issue and identify the values and beliefs behind each viewpoint
- ·Describe the actual impacts on wellbeing for the people directly affected by the issue
- ·Consider how the issue affects others connected to those people and society as a whole
- ·Use health concepts like hauora (Māori wellbeing), the socio-ecological perspective, health promotion, and attitudes/values to strengthen your analysis
You explain the issue, show different perspectives exist, and describe some impacts on wellbeing.
You provide balanced coverage of opposing viewpoints with reasons behind them, and connect your analysis to underlying health concepts like socio-ecological perspective or hauora.
