You need to judge how well different health promotion models work to improve people's wellbeing. This standard asks you to pick two models being used in a real campaign (like Pink Shirt Day), compare their strengths and weaknesses, and explain whether they actually help people. You'll use health concepts like hauora and the socio-ecological perspective to back up your judgement.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Identify two distinct health promotion models from a campaign or context (e.g., behavioural change, self-empowerment, collective action)
- ·Compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of each model
- ·Explain how each model affects people's wellbeing in the specific situation
- ·Draw clear conclusions about whether and why the models are effective
- ·Support your evaluation with evidence from resources and link it to underlying health concepts (hauora, socio-ecological perspective, attitudes and values)
You identify the models, list some advantages and disadvantages, compare them, and draw a basic conclusion about their effectiveness with some supporting evidence.
You explain the models in detail, show how they connect to wellbeing in the specific situation, draw reasoned conclusions about their strengths and limitations, and consistently use evidence to back up your points.
