This standard asks you to show that you understand how different influences shape the way movement happens in Aotearoa New Zealand or the Pacific. You'll pick one sport or physical activity, identify two influences that affected how you performed or participated, and explain why those influences mattered to your movement.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Choose one movement context (sport or physical activity) from Māori, Pacific, cultural activities, team or individual sports, or outdoor education
- ·Identify two influences that affected how you moved or performed: one must be biophysical (like anatomy, how your body works, or sports psychology), and the other must be either te ao Māori (like pūrākau or connection to nature) or sociocultural (like gender, media, whānau, or iwi)
- ·Use specific personal examples from your own participation to show how each influence actually affected your movement
- ·Explain why each influence mattered — not just what happened, but why it happened that way
- ·Draw conclusions about what you learned and how this understanding could help your future performance
You correctly identify one biophysical and one cultural/sociocultural influence in your movement context, and describe what happened using personal examples.
