This standard asks you to explain how and why biophysical principles—like anatomy, biomechanics, skill learning, and sport psychology—affect how you learn and perform physical skills. You need to show you understand these science concepts by linking them to a real sport or physical activity you've actually practised or studied.
What to do, grades and common mistakes
- ·Explain how functional anatomy (bones, joints, and muscles) enables movement in a specific physical skill or sport
- ·Apply biomechanical principles (like force, momentum, balance, or leverage) to show why a technique works the way it does
- ·Describe how skill learning concepts (stages of practice, types of training, or learning factors) connect to improving performance in that skill
- ·Use sport psychology ideas (like visualisation, self-talk, arousal control, or goal setting) to explain how athletes develop and perform
- ·Link these four areas together to show they work as an interconnected system affecting skill development
You explain how at least two biophysical principles relate to learning a specific physical skill, showing basic understanding of cause-and-effect.
